The Philippine Overseas Labor Office – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA) in Abu Dhabi has begun providing the Dh730 financial assistance for Filipinos affected by the impact of the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Rosario” shared with The Filipino Times that her company had to terminate her due to redundancy as her company underwent a reorganization. Upon learning that the Philippine government will be providing support for overseas Filipinos with the same situation as hers, she immediately checked the requirements she needed to submit to avail of the financial assistance.

According to the website of POLO-OWWA Abu Dhabi, requirements include a passport copy, a resident visa copy, a notice of displacement, as well as a filled up DOLE AKAP application form. Upon submission, the process flow chart states that it will take five working days to process requirements to determine if the person is qualified for the one-time financial assistance from the Philippine government.
Rosario shared that she only learned that the money is ready to be picked up when a POLO-OWWA representative called her up about it last April 19, exactly five working days after she submitted her requirements. She said that she will budget her money carefully as she waits for her company to fly her back home.
