The Social Security System (SSS) Board of Directors has approved to give calamity loans to its members affected by the COVID-19 for up to maximum of P20,000.
The calamity loans can only be accessed online through the website www.sss.gov.ph.
Fernan Nicolas, concurrent head, Public Affairs and Special Events of SSS, said that members would need to wait for two weeks before they could apply because they would need to work out on making calamity loan application in the online system.
“Hinahanda na namin ngayon ang computer system. This is the first time we offer calamity loan through online facility,” Nicolas told DZBB’s Arnold Clavio in an interview.
Members who will apply for calamity loan are not required to produce any documents. They just need to identify the bank account where the SSS can deposit the loan.
The loanable amount depends on the one month equivalent of the members’ monthly salary credit. To determine how much you can loan from the SSS, refer to this matrix:

Members with 36 monthly contributions can avail of the loan.
For more questions, email member_relations@sss.gov.ph or go to their Facebook page: Philippine Social Security System @sssPH. Their hotline number is not working because SSS employees are required under the enhance community quarantine to refrain from going to work, and the East Ave. in Quezon City where the SSS headquarters is based is closed by the QC LGU.
